Cairo – Shaimaa Mekawy
Arabstoday has an exclusive interview with Egyptian superstar Nour el-Sherif, who is busy filming his new TV series “Arafa Al-Bahr”. “Arafa Al-Bahr” tells the story of Alexandrian fishermen.? The show is written is by Mohamed al-Safty and directed by Ahmed Medhat. This is not the first time el-Sherif has worked with people on their television debuts; he previously starred in Abdul Rehim Kamal and director Hosni Saleh's show “Al-Rahaia”. He also played a role in scriptwriter Walid Youssef's first production “Al-Daly”. Nour said that throughout his career, he has introduced new actors in his films, but he has recently started introducing young artists to his television series. "You have to bring new blood to maintain your success," said El-Sherif. "I put them on the right track so that they can achieve more in the future." The veteran actor also denied that he monopolised his crew. "It is not a favour but my duty to introduce new faces, similar to the way I was helped when I began my career. I can’t forget when Rushdy Abaza introduced me in 'Al-Tharab' (The Illusion) or Yehia Shahin and Hassan Al-Imam in 'Kasr Al-Shouk', and of course I can’t forget my godfather Farid Shawky." He added that he had finished filming the inside scenes for his production and was ready for the outdoor shoot in Alexandria, which was postponed due to bad weather. "Filming in Alexandria will take almost a month, then we will finally move to a set in Media City that represents the fish market," said the actor. When asked about his daughter's illness, el-Sherif said he didn’t want to speak on this subject and all he could ask for was that his fans to pray for her. As for the rumours that he was back with ex-wife Poussi, he said: “If I return to Poussi, we will make an official announcement. She is the mother of my daughters and I really wish to be back together with her."
