Algiers PM Abdelmalek Sellal

The administrative organization of the capital may be reconsidered in order to make it in line with the ongoing development of the province of Algiers in various fields, said Thursday in Algiers Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal.
During a meeting with local authorities of Algiers province, Sellal said that the capital has seen huge projects, which have not been accompanied by public structures in some places and sectors."
Fifteen ministers participated in the meeting, held behind closed doors, in addition to Commander of National Gendarmerie, Major General Ahmed Boustila, National Police Chief, Major General Abdelghani Hamel, Wali (governor) of Algiers Abdelkader Zoukh and managers of several major companies.
The Premier emphasized the need to improve the situation at all levels, adding that "there are many issues that must be given top priority, like old buildings, public infrastructures and the city management."
He underlined that the problem was not the lack of budget, adding that "several studies on the Kasbah have been carried out and the State has allocated substantial budgets to the end, but there are gaps on the ground."
"It's time to modernize the capital, find solutions and take appropriate decisions to improve the situation," he said.
Sellal said that the meeting will culminate in the adoption of several decisions to improve the security and the living environment in the capital.
