Cairo - Arab Today
The Industry and Trade Ministry is working on speeding up negotiations for the establishment of a unified Arab customs union, ministry undersecretary Saeed Abdullah said.
The unified Arab customs law has been drafted and work is underway for its executive regulation, Abdullah told MENA.
The ministry official expected all details to be completed by the end of the year, he added.
A meeting will be held in mid-April at the Arab League for talks on the rules of the 'country of origin' to achieve industrial integration among Arab countries, Abdullah said.
He, meanwhile, noted that there were no plans to extend the contract for the ro-ro (Roll-on/roll-off) navigation line with Turkey, which ends on April 26.
The agreement was signed between the two countries in March 2012 to ease the transport of Turkish exports.
