Egypt's strategic stock of local and imported wheat is enough till early March, said Supply Minister Khaled Hanafi on Sunday.
Wheat reserves are enough to meet the needs of citizens until early March in 2016, he explained.
He said the General Authority for Supply signed Saturday a contract to buy 235,000 tons of Russian and Ukrainian wheat at an average price of 199 dollars per ton.
Shipment should start in November and is expected to last for 10 days, Hanafy noted.
All imported wheat is examined at ports by global firms and joint technical committees grouping representatives of the ministries of supply, trade and agriculture, he added.
