Egypt's strategic stock of local and imported wheat is past safety levels, the supply minister said Saturday.
Wheat reserves are enough to meet the needs of citizens until early March in 2016, Khaled Hanafy said.
He touched upon a contract to buy 230,000 tons of Russian, French and Ukrainian wheat at an average price of 191 dollars per ton.
Shipment should start on October 21 and is expected to last for 10 days, Hanafy noted.
All imported wheat is examined at ports by global firms and joint technical committees grouping representatives of the ministries of supply, trade and agriculture, he added.
