Cairo - Arab Today
Minister of Planning, Follow-up and Administrative Reform Ashraf el Arabi described the civil service bill, which is due to be issued shortly, as one of the most important elements of administrative reforms.
In a press conference Monday, the minister said the government is keen on achieving administrative reform and dismissed reports that the government intends to backtrack from it or even amend it.
He said the new law does not allow the dismissal civil servant from service arbitrarily but stipulates transferring the civil servant from the work place if he gets weak reports on his service for two years and reducing his salary by half in the fourth year and referring him to a committee to tackle his position in the fifth year.
He said the current law allows the dismissal of the civil servants in case of getting two weak reports on his work.
