The District Committee of Settlement Affairs of the Israeli municipality of al Quds Sunday approved the construction of 560 new settlement units in Ramot and Ramat Shlomo settlements in occupied East Jerusalem, Wafa News Agency reported.

This comes only two days after US president-elect Donald Trump was sworn into office in Washington.

Trump has earlier stated his intention to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
