Member of Egypt’s Zamalek board Sherif Mounir Hassan apologized for the members of the club for not submitting his resignation from his position early, saying that it was better for him to submit his resignation earlier, as he was not satisfied over the performance of the board.
He added, in a statement to “Arabs Today”, that he will not give any details about the reasons behind his decision to submit his resignation, saying that he respect the fans of the team so he will not reveal reasons of his decision. He said, “The main reason is that I felt uncomfortable.”
He added, “Each individual working in the club, from the labors to the senior officials are considered the major partners of success.” He stressed that he has not taken the decision whether to run for the coming elections or not.
He added that he received phone calls from the club’s Vice President Ahmed Jalal Ibrahim and a number of members to convince him to retreat from his decision to resign, while he insisted on his position. He apologized for the fans of Zamalek for his failure to suspend the increasing offenses against the club’s symbols, expressing his frustration over what he described as the destruction of a whole generation inside the club.
