Rabat - Khaled Al Etribi
Moroccan striker Walid Azaro discussed his excitement to join Al-Ahly over European clubs in a press conference announcing his transfer on Thursday.
Moving from Moroccan side Difaa El Jadida, the 22-year-old who is set for a four year deal with Al-Ahly talked about the reason why he preferred joining Al-Ahly over European clubs and the advice given to him by Morocco national football team coach Hervé Renard.
“Al-Ahly SC is the biggest club in the African continent. Playing for Al-Ahly in Africa is tantamount to playing for the European clubs,” Azaro said in the press conference.
Not reveling much of the conversation between the French international and Renard, Azaro remarked, “Renard is the coach of the Moroccan national team and he gave me his advice; however, I am the one who decides where I go. Renard is a professional coach and he knows well what he specializes in.”
Concluding with a message to the Al-Ahly fans Azaro stated, “I am very happy to be here with Al Ahly fans. I will do my maximum in order to prove that I deserve the trust and all the positive feedback that people gave to me.”
Al-Ahly has been targeting Azaro during the past few weeks after Al-Ahly former striker Souleymane Coulibaly’s controversial departure to London.
