At least fourteen persons died in addition to more than one million cattle heads as a result of a severe heat wave in South Korea over the last two months. The South Korean Health Ministry told the South Korean News Agency (YONHAP) that diseases caused by elevated temperatures were behind these deaths. YONHAP pointed out that the number of people who undergo medical treatment from ailments related to high temperatures have almost doubled compared with 800 of last year which severely affected elderly population. The South Korean News Agency added that a total of one million fifteen thousand and three hundred and forty livestock heads in 465 ranches in various part of South Korean succumbed during the period from 20th July to 8th August 2012.
