A speeding, out-of-control truck mowed down villagers in a crowded street near Barlokpur, India, Sunday, killing 15 people. The driver of the truck lost control when the chassis broke down, sending the vehicle careening into a nearby jeep, killing two people, the Indo-Asian News Service reported. The vehicle then entered a crowded village road, killing 13 others, some of whom were dragged for more than 900 feet before the truck stopped, a police officer said. Authorities told the news service an angry mob of villagers had to be subdued when police arrived on the scene -- the people threw stones at officers in protest of the incident.
