Three miners were killed in a methane explosion on early Friday at the Ziminka mine in Kemerovoregion's Prokopyevsk, a spokeswoman for the regional emergencies administration said, according to Russian news agency Itar-tass. "According to preliminary data, there were 95 people in the mine, and eight were at the section where the explosion occurred. Three died, five got to the surface," the spokeswoman added. The accident occurred at about 01:58 local time. Following the explosion, all miners were evacuated from the mine. An investigation is underway.
