Three rebels were killed in an ensuing clash. The rebels, who are fighting for autonomy in the region, have recently stepped up their attacks, killing dozens of security personnel and at least 14 civilians since July. They have also abducted state employees, including 12 teachers.The Interior Ministry said Friday that three other soldiers had been injured when the rebels fired on them in an attack in Turkey’s Sirnak province late Thursday. It said troops later chased the rebels, killing three of them.Authorities, meanwhile, have detained dozens of people across the country for alleged ties to the rebels.The conflict has killed tens of thousands of people since 1984.
