Five people were killed when an oil tank exploded Wednesday in northern Kygyzstan, the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) reported. The government said a privately owned oil tank caught fire and exploded in Kaindy, a village in the Panfilov region of the Chui Oblast. Kubatbek Boronov, head of the MES, said that the fire has been extinguished. A government committee ordered by Prime Minister Omurbek Babanov will investigate the accident and any potential fire safety violations.
