Ras Al Khaimah - Egypt Today
Four people were killed in 570 traffic accidents reported in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah during the Eid Al Fitr holiday.
Brigadier Dr Mohammed Saeed Al Humaidi, director general of the central operations room, RAK police, on Wednesday said the 570 accidents reported included three serious ones and 567 minor mishaps.
"Four people succumbed to injuries they sustained in these accidents, and three passengers received serious injuries during the six-day Eid holiday from June 22 to June 27."
Official records show that the central operations room of the RAK police received 3,008 reports during the holiday. "These included reports about accidents, requests for help, and enquiries."
The traffic and patrols department of the RAK police implemented a thorough plan to attend to all emergency cases and ensure traffic flow during the holiday, he underlined.
"More traffic patrols have been deployed on all the roads, intersections, markets, parks, and public areas to secure these busy places and provide whatever help is needed on time."
He asked all drivers to extend full cooperation with traffic policemen, and strictly adhere to traffic rules and regulations.
"Reckless and casual driving as well as speeding have been blamed for most of the traffic accidents reported on the roads and intersections of the Ras Al Khaimah."
