The U.S. Coast Guard rescued eight men shortly before their fishing boat sank off the Southern California coast. KFMB-AM, San Diego, reported the anglers found themselves in trouble Saturday night when smoke started pouring from the engine of the 45-foot fishing boat Osprey. A rescue helicopter flew to the scene off the coast of Point Loma and brought all eight crew members back to land. No injuries were reported but the boat reportedly sank shortly afterward, the radio station said.
