Militants ambushed Pakistani troops on Monday, killing nine soldiers in gunbattles that lasted several hours in the lawless tribal district of Khyber bordering Afghanistan, officials said. Another three members of the Frontier Corps paramilitary were wounded in the attack and at least 14 militants killed in retaliatory fire in Bara district, which lies just outside the northwestern city of Peshawar, the officials said.
