A man was arrested outside a New York City hotel after a rally against Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, officials said. One man charged toward Saleh as he exited the Ritz-Carlton hotel Sunday afternoon. The man then took off his shoe and attempted to throw it at the president, who was severely injured last summer in a bomb attack in the mosque of the presidential palace and is now receiving medical treatment in the United States, The New York Times reported. Another man threw a shoe and nearly hit the president, a spokesman for the Yemeni-American Coalition for Change, about 20 members of which rallied outside the hotel, told the newspaper. In Yemen, many protesters against Saleh\'s three decade rule were killed or injured during last year\'s Arab Spring uprisings. Saleh has agreed to transfer power to his vice president. Presidential elections will be held later this month.
