An unseasonable snowstorm has hit the US East Coast, with some areas of New Jersey and Massachusetts seeing around 15in (40cm) of snow. An 84-year-old Pennsylvania man died when a tree crashed into his house in Temple on Saturday afternoon, while he was having a nap in his recliner chair. He was killed "instantly" according to police. Another person died in Colchester Connecticut reported Governor Dannel Malloy who warned that some parts of the state could expect as much as 18 inches of snow. In Springfield, Massachusetts, a third person was killed when a man in his 20s ignored police warnings and cross a barricade around a downed power line. He was killed when he touched a metal guard rail that was charged. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter storm warning from Saturday into Sunday and said travel conditions may be hazardous. More than 2.2 million people lost their electricity supply from Maryland to Massachusetts.
