Bulgarian police have seized 15 kg of heroin at the Danube Bridge checkpoint near Russe, at the border with Romania, Bulgarian officials said here on Monday. According to the Ministry of Interior, the illicit drug was hidden in an Opel vehicle driven by a 39-year-old Bulgarian trying to leave the country. Bulgaria, where the number of heroin users is between 20,000 and 30,000, is a major transit country for heroin. From January to November 2010, the country seized 305 kg of heroin.
