British Embassy in Cairo

The British Ambassador to Egypt asserted that a progress was made on negotiations regarding return of British tourists to Sharm el Sheikh. He said talks would continue until a solution is found.

About 250,000 British people visited Egyptian cities of Hurghada, Luxor, Marsa Alam and Cairo in 2016, John Casson said, adding that the UK came second on the list of European countries from which foreign tourist arrived to Egypt.

The diplomat noted that finding a solution for terrorism-related and economic problems would be the key solution to the issue.

He said Egypt will maintain its stability as a pivotal regional country when it wins the war against terrorism and achieves success in its economic reform plan.

London is a key supporter to Cairo in many fields including economy and education, he reaffirmed.

In every sense of the word, he continues, London still sees Egypt a key country in the region and always seeks to boost bilateral relations.
