China urged on Friday US and North Korea to refrain from returning to stubbornness and arrogance methods warning of tensions escalation.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang made the remarks in a press statement in response to the recent spat between the United States and North Korea over the situation on the peninsula, Xinhua news reported.

The current situation on the peninsula is complicated and sensitive, Geng said.

China hopes that all related parties could watch their words and actions, contribute more to easing the tensions and building mutual trust, and refrain from an old path of flaunting powers and raising tensions, the spokesperson said.
