A Chinese tourist died from asphyxia due to drowning near Abu Monkar Island of Hurghada on Friday.

In a statement on Friday, Head of the Maritime Rescue Association in the Red Sea Hassan el Tayyeb said that he was notified that a Chinese tourist has drowned while practicing snorkeling and other marine activities near Abu Munkar.

The body has been recovered and moved to Hurghada public hospital's morgue.

Public prosecution was notified to investigate into the incident.
