UN envoy to Libya Ghassan Salamé

UN envoy to Libya Ghassan Salamé said on Tuesday that Daeh no longer controls lands in Libya after Sirte was liberated in December, however, he warned that the terrorist group was still active in the country.

Daesh militants are still active in the desert area and in southern and southwestern Sirte and there are sleeper cells in other parts in the country, according to a UN report a copy of which was obtained by Al Wasat news website.

The report added that the group carried out six attacks, mostly on security forces in Sirte, including one on May 14 in which Daesh seized three oil trucks on the road leading to Jufra in Central Libya.
