A 36-year-old driver, Yaw Opoku, died on the spot while 13 passengers from Cote d\'Ivoire were seriously injured in a traffic accident on Friday at Supormu- Dunkwa in the Shama District of the Western Region in Ghana. Confirming the incident, the deputy superintendent of the police, Daniel Dzakah, told Xinhua that the accident occurred at 2: 00 a.m. (0200 GMT) on Friday. The driver fell asleep while driving a Ford car from Accra towards Takoradi, capital of the Western Region, 218 km southwest of the capital Accra. The Ford car hit the rear of an articulated truck loaded with cement and somersaulted several times before landing in the bush. Dzakah said the driver of the Ford car stuck in the vehicle when it landed in the bush and died instantly while the 13 Ivorian nationals on board sustained various degrees of injuries and were rushed to a regional hospital. The articulated driver is assisting the police in their investigations.
