Kabul - Egypt Today
At least three Taliban militants were killed and two others injured in an airstrike conducted by the US in the vicinity of Kurram province in Pakistan, Pakistani officials said on Saturday.
This is the first strike carried out by the US drones after the announcement of US new strategy for Afghanistan and South Asia, according to the Afghan news agency Khaama Press.
The officials further added that an unmanned aerial vehicle fired missiles on a gathering of Taliban insurgents.
The identities of those killed in the airstrike have not been known so far with the Taliban group yet to comment regarding the raid.
On this regard, US and Afghan officials have criticized Pakistan for remaining reckless to act against the Taliban and Haqqani terrorist network sanctuaries.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has strongly criticized Pakistan regarding the terror sanctuaries, saying “For its part, Pakistan often gives safe haven to agents of chaos, violence, and terror. The threat is worse because Pakistan and India are two nuclear-armed states whose tense relations threaten to spiral into conflict. And that could happen.”
