Cairo - Egypt Today
Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Federica Mogherini will co-chair a meeting of the EU-Egypt Association Council in Brussels on Tuesday, the European Union Council said in a press release on Monday.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said on his tweeter account that Shoukry will lead Egypt's delegation to the council's meeting.
The convocation of the council after seven years reflects development of ties between Egypt and Europe, he added.
The Association Council is expected to endorse the EU-Egypt partnership priorities for 2017-2020.
The identified priorities cover economic reforms, good governance, rule of law and human rights, migration and security/counterterrorism, as well as closer dialogue and cooperation on regional issues.
The council will discuss the prospects for enhanced dialogue and cooperation in this framework.
