A huge pileup involving more than 30 cars on a motorway in western Germany has killed three people and injured another 30, local police said Friday night. The accident, caused by heavy fog, occurred on the A31 autobahn between Heek and Gronau-Ochtrup in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, near the border with the Netherlands, German news agency DPA quoted local police as saying. Local authorities shut down both directions of the autobahn for clean-up. Some of the injured were trapped in their vehicles but were rescued afterward.
