Guatemalan police seized 405 kilograms of cocaine and detained 12 suspected smugglers at an international airport here on Sunday. The suspects-- seven Guatemalans and five Ecuadorians-- were detained at Guatemala City's La Aurora international airport as they were trying to smuggle the drugs into the country. All 12 arrived aboard a private flight, said officials, adding a member of the group was visibly nervous when passing through immigration, leading airport authorities to search their luggage. Officials found each of the 16 suitcases contained packages of drugs. Interior Minister Mauricio Lopez Bonilla confirmed the arrests and seizure via Twitter. According to official figures, police have seized 1,223 kilograms of cocaine at that airport so far this year.
