Lightning struck a sailboat in Lake Superior near Duluth, Minn., killing a 9-year-old Wisconsin boy and injuring seven other people aboard, authorities said. The boy was identified Sunday as Luke Voigt of Iron River, Wis., the Duluth News Tribune reported. The boaters had brought the 26-foot sailboat to shore at Duluth\'s Minnesota Point in anticipation of an approaching storm and the group was getting off when the lightning bolt struck about 5:30 p.m. Saturday. The St. Louis County Sheriff\'s Office said the boy died after being airlifted to Essentia Health-St. Mary\'s Medical Center. Authorities identified the others injured as Luke\'s parents, Paul Voigt, 46, and Laurie Voigt, 45, of Iron River; Luke\'s brother, Daniel Voigt, 7; John Lintula, 52, and Vicky Lintula, 50, both of South Range; and Paul Voigt\'s parents, Frank Voigt, 79, and Mary Voigt, 78, of Pierz, Minn., the News Tribune said. Duluth Assistant Fire Chief Jarry Keppers said all of those on the sailboat were \"injured at least somewhat\" with three adults seriously injured.
