The new UNICEF Representative in the Islamic Republic of Iran, a national of Sudan, Mohamed El Munir Safieldin submitted his credentials to the Iranian Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi on Monday. In this meeting, the two sides discussed areas of mutual cooperation and the new Program of Cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and UNICEF starting January 2012. “I am privileged to be working in a country which has a long record of key achievements in the area of children rights and well-being”, said Safieldin in this meeting. Safieldin served as UNICEF Deputy Representative in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania from July 2009 to November 2011. In this capacity, he has been responsible for the strategic planning, resources allocation, social policy analysis, results monitoring and evidence-based advocacy of the country program.
