Abuja - Arab Today
Nigerian troops shot and killed two female suicide bombers while attempting to attack Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Monguno, Borno State, Sky News Arabia reported Tuesday.
The third female suicide bomber, who took a different route, detonated her explosives, killing only herself before troops’ deployment in the area, said NIgerian Army spokesman Colonel Sani Usman.
In a statement, the spokesman said two attackers targeting IDPs fetching water at a borehole located about three kilometers on the outskirts of Monguno town along Marte road, were killed by vigilante troops.
"Unfortunately, the explosive they were strapped with exploded and injured two civilians nearby," he said.
He added "the third suicide bomber that followed a different route, detonated some distance, before troops deployment along the same road".
