The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will hold an emergency meeting to be chaired by its Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu in the Turkish city of Istanbul to discuss the risk of starvation in Somalia and its risks to neighboring African countries. OIC has invited 57 member states to participate in this emergency meeting to be held at the level of Foreign Ministers. This meeting is the first of its kind to be held in Istanbul at the level of the Executive Committee of the Organization, which includes the foreign ministers of its member States, where its last meeting was held in Jeddah in 2006.
