One person was killed and 19 others injured in a bomb blast in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar on Tuesday, police and witnesses said. The blast occurred in a market located at Arbab Road area of the city. Heavy contingent of police have been alerted towards the blast site. Police said they are trying to ascertain the nature of the blast. The injured have been shifted to Khyber Teaching Hospital. Senior Police officer Mian Mohammad Saeed said that around 20 shops were also partially damaged in the explosion in the Azam Tower. The basement of the tower caught fire after the explosion. The building was used by shops selling electronic equipment. A portion of the road has been blocked for the traffic after the incident. No group claimed responsibility for the attack. Meanwhile a man died and 12 were injured after explosives went off in the Central Punjab city of Gujrat. According to police official Shahid Pervaiz, the man was on his way from Gujrat to the city of Wazirabad, when explosives present at his motorbike blew up with a loud bang killing him on the spot. Police put security cordon around the blast site and started investigations into the incident.
