Egyptian security forces have killed six terrorists in shootouts in Giza and Ismailia governorates, the Interior Ministry said on Saturday.
Security agencies received information that a group of terrorists affiliated to Hasm group of the Muslim Brotherhood were holed up in an area in Giza, south of Cairo, to carry out a hostile operation, the ministry said in a statement.
When the forces approached the area, the terrorists opened fire, the ministry said, adding that the police returned fire, killing two of them.
Police found two machine guns, amounts of ammunition and bullet casings, it added.
The raid came a day after a terrorist attack on a police vehicle, that left five policemen dead.
Also, police targeted a group of terrorists who took a desert area in Ismailia as a hotbed to prepare for terrorist attacks in the city.
As the forces approached the hotbed, the terrorists opened fire and the forces hit back, killing four terrorists, the statement said.
Police found money in local and foreign currencies, guns and amounts of ammunition.
