A Riverside, Calif., man shot and killed by a police officer early Thursday had a loaded gun, investigators said. Brandon James Dunbar, 26, was described as a known gang member who was on parole after being convicted of a felony, the Los Angeles Times reported. His status made carrying a gun illegal. Sgt. David Amador of the Riverside police said Dunbar was riding in a car that was pulled over because of problems with the license plate. Dunbar ran off with police in pursuit. The officer who shot him said Dunbar, holding a gun, turned to face him in a backyard. \"He ran with a weapon and turned on an officer, and you just don\'t do that,\" Amador said. The driver of the car was not arrested.
