The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that Russian ambassador to Sudan Mirgayas Shirinskiy was found dead at his home in Khartoum on Wednesday, Russia Today reported.

"We regret to inform that Ambassador of Russia to Sudan, Mirgayas Shirinsky, died in Khartoum on August 23," Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

"Upon receiving information from the staff of the Russian Embassy in Khartoum, we will inform you about circumstances of the death of our colleague," she added.
