South Korea will send tents to quake- stricken Turkey at the request of the Turkish government, the foreign ministry said Friday. Some 100 tents will be delivered to the Turkish authorities in Istanbul before being transported to the eastern province of Van which was struck by a deadly 7.2-magnitude earthquake on Sunday. The tents are expected to provide temporary accommodation for more than 1,800 homeless people, the foreign ministry said in a press release, adding it will continue consultations with Turkey for further assistance. The death toll from the powerful earthquake has reached 570.
