Virginia Tech officials announced late on Thursday that the security threat was lifted on campus after two persons were shot dead, including a campus police officer and the suspected gunman.\"We are confident that the situation is under control at this time, I think investigators feel confident they have located the person\", said Virginia State Police Sergent Bob Carpentieri during a news conference while the school spokesperson Larry Hincker noted that \"we are all trying to figure out what is going on\".Officials say that the suspect walked up and shot the Virginia Tech police officer during a routine traffic stop on campus before the suspect run away to a nearby parking lot where a second body was later found along the weapon.Virginia Tech officials immediately alerted all students on campus when the gun shots were heard and urged them to stay in their dorms. This comes after the April 2007 shootings at the campus considered the deadliest mass shooting in US history with 32 persons killed.
