One person was died and 28 others were injured after a tornado hit the Far Eastern Russian city of Blagoveshchensk, a district military spokesman said on Monday. According to Russian (RIA Novosti) News Agency, the tornado hit the downtown area of the city with a population of around 220,000 on Sunday evening and lasted for 13 minutes. Blagoveshchensk is the capital of the Amur Oblast bordering China. The spokesman said that more than 120 military cadets were involved in the cleanup efforts following the tornado.
