Two terrorists from Hasm movement were killed in a firefight with security forces in Fayoum governorate, the Interior Ministry said in a statement on Friday.
The two Hasm members were involved in carrying out several terrorist attacks, the statement added.
Police had information that the two militants were hiding in Fayoum's Tamiya town, the statement noted.
The pair returned fire on the forces when they raided the hideout, the statement read.
A rifle, pistol and a large amount of ammunition were in the possession of the two terrorists, according to the statement.
All legal procedures were taken and the High State Prosecution was notified to launch a probe.
On February 11, an Egyptian court banned Hasm movement after claiming responsibility for deadly attacks and assassination attempts of public figures.
