Kiev - Ria Novosti
The Pechora District Court has granted a medical examination for former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko to include her personal doctor and nurse, the Ukrainian state penitentiary service said on Tuesday. Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Tymoshenko, who has been in jail for three weeks, complained about her health and asked to consult her doctor, but the court denied her doctors permission five times, claiming she had been offered medical attention at the detention center, which she had rejected. "Permission was granted for a medical examination for Yulia Tymoshenko within the premises of the Kiev Investigation Center by a 5-member medical committee and Tymoshenko's personal doctor and nurse," the penitentiary service said in a statement. The commission came to the conclusion that Tymoshenko`s state of health is satisfactory. A document showing her present medical condition was signed by the committee and Tymoshenko`s personal doctor, the statement reported. The doctors recommended a diet and medical monitoring for her at the detention center. Tymoshenko, 50, who was arrested on August 5, is accused of damaging Ukraine's national interests by signing "unfair" gas supply deals with Russia as prime minister in 2009. She faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted. Currently Ukraine's leading opposition figure, Tymoshenko has denied all the charges brought against her as politically motivated.
