Chinese architect Wang Shu has won this year’s Pritzker Architecture Prize. He’s the first Chinese citizen to receive the industry’s top award. Wang is recognized for museums, libraries and other structures across China. His work was commended for being aesthetically striking and environmentally sustainable. Wang uses recycled materials, at a time of rapidly urbanising China. The prize was founded in 1979 to honor a living architect. This year’s award ceremony will take place in Beijing in May.
