The body of a woman with a gunshot wound behind her ear was discovered Friday in a car parked at an apartment complex in a Philadelphia suburb, police said. The car and body had been in the parking lot in Upper Darby for about 15 hours when some yard workers noticed it about noon, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported. Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood said investigators believe the woman was killed in the car. But he said the shooting did not necessarily take place in the parking lot. By late Friday evening, police had not identified the woman. Chitwood said identification found in the car appeared to be someone else's.The car was full of clothes. "It looks like somebody was living in that car," Chitwood said. The car, a 2006 Chrysler 300, has a history with police, Chitwood said. Police in neighboring Montgomery County say it was involved in a home invasion robbery Oct. 3. In Delaware County, where Upper Darby is located, a woman went to police the day before the body was discovered to report the vehicle stolen. But she left quickly without finishing the paperwork.
