As many as 125 prisoners have been pardoned, while 99 others released on parole, said the interior ministry on Wednesday.
Their release, following an examination of their files by committees formed by the prisons authority sector, is upon a presidential decree.
The ministry said the step is part of its keenness on boosting the values of human rights and the application of the punishment policy within a modern concept.
The presidential decree was issued on the Sinai Liberation Day.
