The Cairo Criminal Court on Saturday sentenced to death 28 defendants after being convicted of the assassination of prosecutor general Hisham Barakat.
The ruling was issued after receiving the Mufti's opinion.
The court also sentenced 15 defendants to life in prison and eight others to 15 years in jail, while 15 defendants were sentenced to 10 years in prison. 
The defendants, including 67 of the terrorist Brotherhood group, also face charges of coordinating with the Palestinian movement Hamas to commit terrorist acts in Egypt. Source: Mena
