The police  on Saturday claimed to have arrested the mastermind of a car showroom heist in March in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, in which robbers had looted over Rs 1.5 million and stolen vehicles.
Acting on a tip-off, a car was intercepted near Karhera village yesterday and Shah Nawaz, a resident of Budhana in Muzaffarnagar, was arrested, SHO Sudesh Gupta said.
A country-made pistol, two live cartridges and Rs 97,000 were found inside the vehicle, he said.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to have robbed Rs 1.55 million and the car from the showroom along with his 12 accomplices, the police officer claimed.
In April, two accomplices of Shah were arrested while hunt is on to nab the other 10 accused, he said.
