Cairo - Arab Today
assistant foreign minister and former ambassador to Indonesia Ahmed el Qouisny has said that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s scheduled visit to Jakarta on Friday is important as it opens new horizons for the deeply-rooted ties between the two countries.
In statements on Sunday, Qouisny spoke of ongoing cooperation between Egypt and Indonesia in the economic, trade and environment fields.
He further revealed the possibility of signing a contract between Egypt and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to help the latter pump more investments into the African market.
It is the proper time for Indonesia to take part in the Suez Canal investment projects, especially after the inauguration of the New Suez Canal earlier this month, Qouisny said.
He noted that Egypt cam make use of Indonesia’s long expertise in the fields of small- and medium-sized projects.
Qouisny urged boosting cooperation between Egypt and Indonesia in the fields of education, scientific research, health, environment protection, climate change and space science.
Sisi arrived in Singapore earlier in the day as part of an Asian tour that will take him to China and Indonesia.
