Al Azhar has strongly condemned a ballistic missile attack launched by Houthi militants against the Saudi capital Riyadh.

The rocket, fired from Yemen, was intercepted by Saudi air defense forces.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Al Azhar expressed its total rejection of the failed and indiscriminate attack that targeted residential areas in the kingdom.

The Houthi offensive goes against all religious teachings, the statement said.
