Al Azhar's Senior Scholars Authority reiterated on Tuesday rejection of a decision taken by US President Donald Trump to move the American embassy to Jerusalem.

In a statement, the authority said such arrogant decisions will not change the status quo in Jerusalem, which is an Arab and Islamic city.

The authority also called on all Arab and Islamic governments to take legal and political procedures to abolish the US decision.

It praised a stance taken by the European Union, Russia and China to reject the US move and support rights of the Palestinian people.

It also decided to prepare a curriculum on the Palestinian issue for Al Azhar students.
